Split is a Mediterranean city on the eastern shores of the Adriatic Sea, centred around the ancient Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian and its bay and port. With a population of 178,192 citizens, and a metropolitan area numbering up to 467,899, Split is the second largest city of Croatia.
Is the oldest port on the island. First families settled in Stomorska as early as in 16th century.
Stomorska has been famous for its fleet of big wooden ships that were used to carry Solta's wine and
olive oil to markets on mainland and in Italy. Only five or six such ships are still docked in Stomorska.
